MADISON, Wis. — Police arrested a 22-year-old Thursday morning after an officer spotted the man driving a stolen vehicle with no plates driving recklessly on Old Gate Road.
According to an incident report, the officer tried to stop the driver, but the driver accelerated. The officer didn’t chase the driver.
The driver, later identified as 22-year-old William McIntosh, ended up crashing the car into several mailboxes and a fire hydrant on Lyons Court, according to the report.
Police said McIntosh ran from the car, but an officer chased him down.
McIntosh was taken to the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, reckless driving, criminal damage to property, operating without a valid driver’s license and resisting/obstructing.
