MADISON, Wis. — A man and woman walking near downtown Madison were injured Saturday afternoon during a hit-and-run crash.
The couple was in a crosswalk on S. Park St. at W. Washington Ave. when they were hit by a car, police said.
Police said the 25-year-old man was knocked down and the 28-year-old woman was thrown over the top of the car. Both were lying in the street when a witness called for help, police said.
The victims are both Madison residents. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Witnesses and surveillance images helped officers identify the owner of the vehicle. A 19-year-old Madison man told police his vehicle had been stolen, but did not report the crime, according to the release.
The investigation is ongoing.
