ELROY, Wis. — A man was arrested on Nov. 14 after a vehicle pursuit led to crash with a police car, police said.
Around 9:07 p.m., a deputy observed a vehicle, being driven by 22-year-old Anthony D. Springman of rural Tomah, traveling 40 mph above the speed zone in the Kendall area. The vehicle fled into Juneau County after the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, according to police.
Springman shut off the vehicle’s lights after entering the City of Elroy and continued to attempt to get away from the deputy, police said. The vehicle then struck a deer, causing the hood to open.
After striking the deer, Springman abruptly stopped. The deputy’s vehicle struck the rear of Springman’s, which caused moderate damages to both vehicles but no injuries, according to police.
Springman then surrendered and was arrested.
He was booked into the Monroe County Jail for vehicle operator flee/elude an officer, second degree recklessly endangering safety, bail jumping (misdemeanor), possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued several traffic citations, officials said.
The Elroy Police Department are currently investigating the collision between the two vehicles.
