BELOIT, Wis. — The City of Beloit announced that the Beloit Powerhouse Riverwalk is open for public use on Wednesday, according to a release.
The release said that the project is nearly completed and individuals can now begin using the path. A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the project will be planned for a later date, officials said.
The Riverwalk, which runs along the edge of Rock River, transformed a sidewalk next to Highway 51 into a well-lit concrete path and bridge structure. It is immediately adjacent to the Beloit Powerhouse, a combined student and community center.
The project fills in a 850-foot gap in public access to the riverfront between Riverside Park and downtown Beloit, according to the release.
