MADISON, Wis. — More than 17,000 people in Wisconsin have been hospitalized with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to the state Department of Health Services.
Health officials said an additional 96 were hospitalized between Sunday and Monday, which puts the all-time total at 17,095. With 11,083 hospital beds throughout the state, 16% remain available for new patients.
Ten more people have died of coronavirus complications, bringing the statewide death toll to 3,369*. A Madison East High School student died of COVID-19 on Monday, according to district officials.
The seven-day average of new tests by person has seen a slight increase to 28.7%, while the seven-day equivalent for total tests by day is at 12.3%.

State and county health officials recorded 2,625* new cases, down from Sunday’s count of 3,830. Wisconsin has reached a lifetime total of 387,469* confirmed cases. More than 68,000, or 17.8% of those cases are active.
