MADISON, Wis. — State Rep. John Nygren (R-Marinette) is resigning from his position in the state Assembly to pursue a private sector career, just weeks after winning reelection.
Nygren won reelection to the 89th Assembly District on Nov. 3.
“Serving the people of the 89th Assembly District has been the honor of a lifetime. Together we have accomplished a great deal for northeast Wisconsin as well as the entire state,” Nygren said in a statement. “I am humbled by the support shown for my family and me for which I will be forever grateful. Thank you.”
Nygren served as the Assembly Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance for four sessions.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said Nygren is “leaving a legacy of balanced budgets, smaller government and lower taxes.”
“On a personal note, I have truly appreciated his friendship over the years in the legislature and wish him nothing but the best in this new chapter in his life,” Vos said.
