KENOSHA, Wis. — Kyle Rittenhouse’s attorney filed a motion Tuesday in an attempt to dismiss two of the teen’s charges.
The 17-year-old faces a total of six charges in connection with shooting and killing two men and wounding a third during a night of protests in Kenosha over the summer.
Court records indicate they wish to dismiss the counts of possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18 and first-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon.
According to WTMJ-TV, Attorney Mark Richards said the two charges in particular should be dismissed because no reasonable person would conclude that a crime was committed.
A pretrial hearing for Rittenhouse has been scheduled in Kenosha County Court for 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Rittenhouse faces life in prison if convicted.
