LA PRAIRIE, Wis. — Rock County officials are investigating a fatal crash involving an SUV that became fully engulfed in flames Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities responded to a one-vehicle crash on South Van Allen Road in the township of La Prairie, according to a news release.
Officials said the vehicle was ablaze when first responders arrived, and a woman was found in the driver’s seat. The victim has not been identified as of Tuesday night.
An initial investigation suggests the woman was heading south on the road, left the roadway and went into a ditch. The release said the vehicle likely collided with a tree in the ditch line and caught on fire as a result.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
