SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Sun Prairie police are investigating a shooting Wednesday night that involved multiple vehicles.
Police responded to the intersection of West Main Street and Clarmar Drive for a report of multiple shots fired just before 6:45 p.m., according to the incident report. A preliminary investigation revealed a shooting involving occupants in a dark-colored sedan and white Nissan Pathfinder took place.
The SUV sustained damage from bullet rounds and has been seized by the police department, though the sedan left the area. Police said the shooting appeared to be targeted, but bullets also struck two other uninvolved vehicles.
One was a Sun Prairie taxicab parked outside the BP gas station on 1705 W. Main St. The cab had two occupants inside but neither were hit by bullets.
The other vehicle was a Honda Pilot that also had two occupants. The vehicle’s back window was shot out while heading on West Main Street near the same gas station. Neither of the occupants were injured.
Officials said one bullet also struck the building of the gas station.
Police are working to identify those who were involved in the shooting and have asked the public to avoid the area. The roadway remains closed as of 9 p.m.
