TOWN OF TROY, Wis. — Sauk County officials are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash from Thursday afternoon.
According to a news release, dispatchers received a report of a crash on Highway 60 near Round River Trail in the town of Troy.
The report said the motorcycle struck the gravel shoulder and left the road. Authorities were sent to the scene after the driver was said to be nonresponsive.
An initial investigation and witness accounts revealed the motorcyclist was on the highway and did not complete a sweeping curve in the road. Officials said the motorcycle entered a ditch and overturned as a result, which caused the operator and only occupant to be thrown from the vehicle.
Lifesaving measures were attempted but the motorcyclist died of injuries suffered in the crash. The release said the person had been wearing a helmet and protective clothing.
The victim’s name has not been released as of Thursday night.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Sauk Prairie Ambulance Service, Sauk City Fire Department, UW MedFlight, Sauk County Coroner’s Office and Everett’s Towing.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
