MADISON, Wis. — The first significant snowfall of the season is expected for Madison on Friday, and with that comes the possibility of the city’s first snow emergency.
The city will declare a snow emergency whenever they need to plow all residential streets. They say that will usually happen when the city sees 3 or more inches of snow. They’ll make that declaration before 9 p.m. the night the snow emergency takes effect.
If the city does declare a snow emergency, everyone who lives inside the “snow emergency zone” (map below — click to enlarge) will need to follow alternate side parking rules for the next two nights. Anyone who doesn’t move their car faces a $60 ticket and will also have to pay a $65 towing fee.
