MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Tony Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers announced on Saturday that Wisconsinites are invited to view holiday decorations at the Executive Residence that are meant to honor service members and celebrate hope, a release said.
The Executive Residence is decorated outside so that visitors can drive, bike or walk by and enjoy it safely during the ongoing pandemic.
“Families across our state and country are adjusting to the pandemic to carry on their traditions and celebrations safely, and our family is no different,” Gov. Evers said. “From our Tribute to our Troops tree to the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Awareness trees, to the wreaths and trees provided by Wisconsin growers, the decorations at the Residence tell the stories of Wisconsinites. Throughout this holiday season, we encourage Wisconsinites to come by and enjoy the decorations safely.”
Outside of the Residence, viewers can enjoy seeing a traditional 28-foot Christmas tree as well as many other smaller trees around the grounds. Decorations around the property pay tribute to different groups important to the state, including tributes to essential workers and healthcare providers, the release said.
“Our goal with our decorations this year is to celebrate as many hopeful holiday traditions as possible, while also providing an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the hardships and the heroes of this past year,” said First Lady Evers.
The front door of the Residence is decorated with a wreath provided by Cooks’ Woods tree farm, the winners of the annual Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producers Association’s wreath contest.
Inside of the residence is the traditional Tribute to our Troops tree that honors service members and a Hope tree decorated with ornaments handmade by students across the state symbolizing what hope means to them. Thousands of ornaments are being sent to hospitals, nursing homes, and veterans’ homes across the state to help share hope, according to the release.
