MADISON, Wis. — SSM Health received its first shipment of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday morning.
The hospital received roughly 6,000 doses of the vaccine, which will be offered to health care workers who are on the frontlines in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
SSM Health officials said they plan to start vaccinating employees Tuesday afternoon.
“SSM Health is prepared to vaccinate as many of our health care team members as soon as possible to protect them from this deadly disease so they can continue to be able to care for our patients,” said Mohammad Kharbat, SSM Health Wisconsin VP of Pharmacy Services and Health Research.
UW Health received its first shipment of the vaccine on Monday.
State officials said they expect to get nearly 50K doses of the vaccine this week.
