MADISON, Wis. — UnityPoint Health – Meriter is expected to receive its first shipment of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine Monday morning.
“This is the light at the end of the tunnel that many across the world have been waiting for,” UnityPoint Health Chief Clinical Officer David Williams, MD said. “We are optimistic that scores of lives will be saved thanks to medical science.”
Health care workers are expected to get vaccinated Monday afternoon. Priority will be given to workers who have the highest COVID-19 exposure risk, according to a news release.
UnityPoint Health officials did not say how many doses of the Pfizer’s vaccine were included in the shipment.
UW Health and SSM Health both received their first shipments of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine early last week. Health care workers were vaccinated within hours of the first doses arriving.
