MADISON, Wis. — Brandi Grayson, a Madison-based community organizer and founder and CEO of Urban Triage, announced Monday that she is running to serve as alder for District 14.
In addition to her work with Urban Triage, Grayson has worked as a social worker, according to her profile on Urban Triage’s website.
“They know that it is not only my experience as a family educator and human-rights advocate but having been a Black child and teen mother surviving parental addiction and the streets has equipped me with the critical insight necessary for making informed policies that will lead to inclusive and sustainable outcomes,” Grayson said. “I have been there, I made it through and I know how I made it through. I’m ready to share the map now as a policy-maker.”

Grayson’s early endorsements include longtime Madison Alder Shiva Bidar and former Wisconsin State Senate candidate Nada Elmikashfi. They are joined by over 200 community stakeholders who endorsed Grayson in the first few hours of her campaign.
“Brandi Grayson has been an instrumental figure in ushering in structural reform here in Madison,” Elmikashfi said. “Her work and foundation center around giving agency to our most vulnerable — and our community has seen how she has cared, advocated, and fought for those around her.”
