MADISON, Wis. — More than 70 Wisconsinites have died of coronavirus complications in the past day, according to state and county health officials.
COVID-19 was a factor in 77 new deaths, bringing the statewide death toll to 4,871*. The state Department of Health Services said 170 people were also hospitalized, which more than doubles Monday’s hospitalizations. With 10,992 hospital beds in Wisconsin, 21% remain available for new patients.
Health officials recorded 2,355* new cases of the virus, which is above Monday’s case count and the seven-day rolling average of 1,931. The state has reached a lifetime total of 474,850* confirmed cases, and more than 28,000, or 6.1% of those cases are active.
The seven-day positivity rate of new tests by person went up by nearly 1 percentage point to 25.4%, according to DHS data. The seven-day equivalent for total tests by day also went up to 8.9%.

The DHS website launched a new COVID-19 vaccine data page which includes how many doses have been allocated, shipped and administered throughout Wisconsin. As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 47,000 doses have been administered.
