MADISON, Wis. —Like most holidays this year, we’re thinking of creative ways to celebrate safely in a smaller way. Ringing in 2021, the year can only be better than the last, because that bar is on the ground floor.
A popular trend this year is grabbing meals to go. Several local Madison restaurants are offering to-go items instead of dining options due to COVID-19.
With most restaurants closed, some places like the Edgewater Hotel’s Statehouse will be open for guests to ring in the new year.
“Our Statehouse restaurant is open for dinner, and then we also have our ice rink open outside. We have a New Year’s Eve DJ skate out on the rink. That should be really fun, that’s sort of for folks who wanna go out of the house and maybe go outdoors but aren’t comfortable with dining in yet,” said Melanie Gautreau, Edgewater Director of Food & Beverage.
Along with New Years eve dining options the Statehouse will also offer new year’s day activities to start 2021 off with a bang! Of course, the Statehouse is requiring guests to wear a mask, and to arrive a few minutes early for table reservations.
The Madison Children’s Museum will host a virtual party starting around noon. The party will feature a local magician, games and of course a ball drop.
“We will have it available mid-day with some suggested start times. So if you want to put your kids to bed at 8pm and want to start your countdown at 8pm we will give you suggestions on when to start your countdown start times to do that,” said Kia Harland, Madison Children’s Museum.
Just like the children’s museum, the Verona Public Library is hosting a noon year’s eve today. Families are invited to ring in the new year with party packs designed just for kids.
The library says the party packs are on a first come first serve basis, with a virtual ball drop starting around noon.
