MADISON, Wis. — More than 100 Wisconsinites have been hospitalized with COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Health officials said Thursday that 143 additional hospitalizations were reported since Wednesday afternoon. A total of 2,095 hospital beds, roughly 19% of the state’s total supply, are still available.
According to state and county data, at least 4,938* Wisconsinites have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. That’s an increase of 34 deaths since Wednesday.
Combined metrics from DHS and county health departments show an additional 4,031 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the state’s total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 481,451*.
Thursday also saw an uptick in the seven-day positivity rate for both new tests by person and total tests by day. The seven-day positivity rate for new tests by person increased from 25.1% to 28.4% while the seven-day positivity rate for total tests by day increased from 9.2% to 10.3%.
