STOUGHTON, Wis. — Emergency crews responded to Highway 51 at Dunn Townline Road around 3:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a multi-vehicle crash with an unknown number of injuries.
All lanes of Highway 51 were closed as crews responded to the scene.
According to Dane County Dispatch, the initial call reported three or four vehicles were involved in a crash.
Three ambulances were sent to the scene and at least two people were transported to area hospitals for injuries. Dispatch did not provide any further information about the extent of the victims’ injuries.
As of 5:45 p.m., the roadway remained closed. It is unclear how long the roadway will remain closed, but a traffic alert from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation estimated the closure would last for more than two hours after the crash.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to help with the investigation into the crash.
