MADISON, Wis. — A man stole a running vehicle from the 3100 block of East Washington Avenue on Monday after he pushed the owner to the ground.
Police said the vehicle, a 2019 Hyundai Tucson, was left running in a parking lot at 3167 East Washington Ave. According to an incident report, the owner yelled at the thief to back away from the vehicle as the thief approached the driver’s side door.
When the victim got close, the thief pushed him to the ground before getting in the vehicle and driving off toward Rethke Avenue, according to the report.
Police said the suspect was wearing a dark hooded jacket at the time.
