Congress has officially recognized Joe Biden as the next president with the counting of Electoral College votes that took place overnight after a mob of rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol and took over several chambers.
Several Republicans in both houses had planned to object to the votes in several battleground states, including legislators from Wisconsin. At least one, Sen. Ron Johnson, changed his vote, saying “obviously in light of events, there’s a little bit of a different attitude.”
All of Wisconsin’s Democrats voted to confirm Biden’s win.
Here is a breakdown of where Wisconsin Republicans stood on the objections:
Objected to Arizona:
– Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Hazelhurst
– Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau
Voted to certify Arizona:
– Sen. Jon Johnson
Objected to Pennsylvania:
– Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau
