TOWNSHIP OF CALAMUS, Wis. — The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 17-year-old victim in Tuesday’s fatal crash.
The sheriff’s department responded to an accident on Highway 73 north of County Highway D in in the township of Calamus at around 9 a.m.
An initial investigation revealed Wilhelm Rist, of Randolph, was driving southbound on the highway in a Chevrolet Impala and went into a counter-clockwise spin. The car headed over the center roadway line and collided into a straight truck that was in the other lane of traffic.
Rist was taken to UW Hospital in Madison but was pronounced dead shortly after. No one else was in the car, and the driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Highway 73 was closed for roughly four hours Tuesday while the scene was being cleared.
