Virtual learning doesn’t come cheap. Just ask the Monroe School District. Officials say they are spending six-thousand dollars-a-month on hot spots for their students alone. The district is estimating it will end up spending one-point-four-million dollars that administrators didn’t plan for. Money has gone to pay teachers for extra work and for the purchase of Chromebooks for students. State officials are hoping more help will be coming from the federal government. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction got 345-thousand dollars through the CARES Act last year.
