MADISON, Wis. — Madison police took a man into custody Tuesday night after he shot at his own car, according to an incident report.
Officers responded to a shots fired call at PLS Check Cashing on 1907 S. Park St. shortly after 6 p.m.
Police said a 30-year-old man whose car had been stolen later found his vehicle occupied by someone else. The owner of the vehicle confronted the person inside, and officials said the driver drew a handgun from their waistband in response.
The report said the owner retrieved a gun from the center console of his stolen vehicle. As the car left the parking lot “through the terrace, over the sidewalk and through the median,” police said the man fired at his own car several times.
The stolen vehicle was not recovered, and it is unknown who is in possession of it. No injuries were reported.
The alleged shooter and owner of the vehicle was arrested on charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and a carrying concealed weapon violation. Officials did not release the man’s name.
