MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin judge has been formally charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography.
Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Brett Blomme, 38, made his initial appearance in Dane County Circuit Court on Wednesday.
Blomme was arrested on Tuesday following a child pornography investigation.
Court documents indicate he used the messaging app Kik to share images and videos 27 separate times in October and November 2020. Authorities said the videos show sexual acts being performed on children, including a toddler.
The Kik account that shared these images is linked to an email address belonging to Blomme, the criminal complaint said. The Kik account was also accessed using internet provided in a Milwaukee County government building and a home in Dane County.
Department of Justice Investigators obtained search warrants for Blomme’s judicial chambers, vehicle and homes in Milwaukee and Dane counties.
Blomme was elected as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge last spring.
