MADISON, Wis. — Over 50,000 Wisconsinites have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine in the past 24 hours, according to the state Department of Health Services.
More than 2.1 million doses of the vaccine have been administered throughout the state, including 53,008 since Wednesday.
A total of 1,340,704 have received at least one dose, which is 23% of the state’s population. Health officials said 761,027, or 13.4% of Wisconsinites have been fully vaccinated.
With more people receiving the vaccine in Dane County, public health officials have amended the social distancing and masking rules for those who have fully completed the vaccine series.
The positive percentage of new tests continues to sit below 3%. As of Thursday afternoon, the seven-day average percent positive by test was at 2.2%.
Wisconsin reported 490 new cases of the virus, which is higher than Wednesday’s count and the seven-day rolling average of 409.
The state has reached an all-time total of 571,220 confirmed cases, and fewer than 6,400 cases are active.
At least 6,556 have died of coronavirus complications since the start of the pandemic, with two new deaths confirmed Thursday. An additional 52 people were hospitalized within the past 24 hours.
