EVANSVILLE, Wis. — A U.S. Army Veteran is heading outdoors to do what he loves with the help of a new wheelchair.
Cody Becker is getting back on track and reliving his childhood experiences of fishing and hunting.
After suffering injuries from a motor accident during training, the veteran became unable to enjoy the activities he used to.
He says he can’t remember the last time he was independently experiencing the outdoors.
“Going from having hopes and expectations and planning your future, especially at that age, thinking about what you’re doing and your family,” Becker said. “Then the next thing you know you’re in a hospital staring at the ceiling and you don’t know where you’re going to go from there.”
The Beale Foundation partnered with Action Track Chair and the Paralyzed Veterans of America to make it easier for Becker to do outdoor activities such as hunting.
According to the treasurer of Paralyzed Veterans of America, Scott Griffith, the chair will enable Cody to be more active.
“It really provides adaptive capabilities to assist Cody in everyday life and enjoy outdoor activities he used to,” Griffith said.
The organizations hope to continue working together to give extra help to those who need it.
