MADISON, Wis. — UnityPoint Health – Meriter will contact patients who are newly eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in the coming weeks to make an appointment.
The health system shared new information on its vaccination plans Monday.
According to a statement, Meriter is “continuing to prioritize vaccine invitations to our eligible primary care patients who are part of vulnerable populations based on race and ethnicity, as well as patients with multiple comorbidities or high-risk factors.”
Meriter said it has already contacted all of its patients who are 65 and older to schedule vaccine appointments. By prioritizing vulnerable groups, the health system said it is ensuring clinic schedules will line up with vaccine supply.
The statement said Meriter is considering a more open scheduling model once vaccines are more readily available.
Meriter asked patients to refrain from calling the clinic so the phone lines can remain open for patients in need of urgent care. Patients will be contacted directly to schedule vaccine appointments.
SSM Health also provided an update Monday on vaccination plans, stating the health system will begin to reach out to patients earlier in the week.
Rather than contacting patients individually, UW Health said it is switching to a self-scheduling system for vaccine appointments.
