MIDDLETON, Wis. — Middleton made a deep run in the bracket, but is coming up just short of being named to the Final Four of a nationwide contest to determine the country’s strongest town.
Middleton lost to Lockport, Illinois in the Elite Eight of the “Strongest Towns” contest, which aims to recognize the most resilient communities in America.
Voting in the tournament-style contest is based 50% on Internet voting and 50% on votes by the Strong Towns organization running the contest.
Lockport ended up getting 61% of the Internet vote in the matchup, with Middleton getting 39%.
The other three moving on to the “Final Four” of the competition are Bismarck, North Dakota; Oxford, Mississippi; and Bentonville, Arkansas.
The tournament’s winner will be announced on April 9th.
