MADISON, Wis. — Nearly 3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered throughout Wisconsin, according to the state Department of Health Services.
A total of 2,978,088 doses have been administered to date, including 67,304 in the past day alone.
Health officials said 1,859,640 have received at least one dose of vaccine, which is 31.9% of the state’s population. As of Friday afternoon, 1,121,306 people have fully completed the vaccine series, or 19.3% of Wisconsin residents.
With more people than ever being eligible for the vaccine, Dane County health officials have issued a new public health order which will remove the mask requirement while outside.
New guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also says people who are fully vaccinated can travel at low risk to themselves.

As some restrictions are being loosened, the number of new cases in Wisconsin has seen a surge Friday.
Health officials reported 875 new cases of the virus, a substantial jump from Thursday’s case count. The seven-day rolling average has grown as well to 531.
As of Friday, there are also 150 cases of COVID variants throughout the state. Wisconsin has reached an all-time total of 578,587 confirmed cases, and more than 7,100 of those are active.
According to DHS data, the seven-day average percent positive by test has hit 3% for the first time since Feb. 15.
At least 6,633 have died of coronavirus complications since the start of the pandemic, with eight new deaths confirmed Friday. An additional 47 people have been hospitalized with the virus since Thursday.
