JANESVILLE, Wis. — A Janesville man faces federal charges for storming the U.S. Capitol three months ago.
According to new court documents, Michael Fitzgerald, 42, was recorded on security footage forcing his way into the U.S. Capitol Building with a mob on Jan. 6.
The criminal complaint said he stayed in the Capitol for about 40 minutes.

The FBI said agents met with Fitzgerald after a tipster identified him based on a public post asking for help. The man in the post was seen wearing a T-shirt that read “Wild Protest, Washington, D.C., January 6, 2021.”
The complaint said the agency met with Fitzgerald and confirmed he was the man in the pictures.
Fitzgerald faces charges of obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder, entering and remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
