MADISON, Wis. — Madison police received two animal complaints in the past week involving an unleashed pit bull.
The first complaint was reported Sunday night as a disturbance on O’Brien Court.
Officials said a homeowner was outside with his 11-year-old Golden Doodle when a pit bull approached and attacked the dog shortly after 8:30 p.m. The homeowner’s pet suffered multiple lacerations, according to an incident report.
Police received another animal complaint Wednesday. A 31-year-old woman was walking her dog on the 1900 block of East Washington Avenue when a pit bull approached her pet.
Officials said the pit bull bit the woman in the hand after she tried to separate the two dogs and later received stitches. The woman’s dog was also bit and had to be taken to an emergency veterinarian, police said.
Both incident reports stated police reached out to the pit bull’s owner, who said the dog may have escaped from their backyard.
An investigation continues with help from Animal Control.
