LYNDON TOWNSHIP, Wis. — A rural Juneau County neighborhood was evacuated after a man threatened to ignite explosives he claimed to have.
According to the Juneau County Sheriff, they responded to a report of a disturbance in Lyndon Township around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
Phillip Cholka, 53, of rural Wisconsin Dells was in the driver seat of a van he claimed was full of explosives.
With a lighter in his hand, Cholka told deputies he was prepared to ignite the explosives in the van.
Near by residences were evacuated while deputies negotiated with Cholka.
Just before 2 a.m. Friday, Cholka surrendered to deputies.
He was arrested and taken to the Juneau County Jail where he is awaiting charges.
