MADISON, Wis. — A Waupun man was sentenced Wednesday to nine years and two months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine.
Timothy Savannah, 29, pleaded guilty to the charge on Feb. 2. The charge stemmed from a drug investigation that led to the arrest of two men in September 2020.
Officials said an undercover police officer bought methamphetamine from Savannah on two occasions in Lake Delton during the investigation. The two sales totaled 76 grams of meth, according to court officials.
On Sept. 18, police executed a search warrant at a Lake Delton apartment where Savannah was staying. During their search, officers recovered a loaded handgun, a variety of drugs and more than $7,000 in cash.
During sentencing, Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson said Savannah has an “unrelenting pattern of criminal offenses,” which includes multiple violent felony convictions. Peterson said the sentencing was warranted because of Savannah’s deep involvement in drug trafficking and his possession of a loaded gun.
The investigation was conducted by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Sauk County Attorney’s Office.
