MADISON, Wis. — Dane County awarded more than $89,000 on Thursday to advance climate action through its clean energy economic development grant program.
Count Executive Joe Parisi announced seven local agencies have been selected to receive the grants from the Office of Energy & Climate Change.
The program was created to fund efforts in support of the county’s climate action plan.
Officials said as part of the application process, each applicant identified the specific priority its effort would address and detailed how the program would make progress on that priority.
The priorities address included piloting the energy facilitator model at the Latino Academy of Workforce Development; expanding consumer access to solar energy; accelerating electrification; advancing climate-health-equity efforts; and encouraging telecommuting options.
Parisi’s announcement comes on Earth Day, and one day after Madison’s mayor introduced the city’s ‘Climate Forward’ initiatives.
