MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man was sentenced Friday to six years in prison for a methamphetamine trafficking charge tied to a July 2020 arrest.
Court officials said 29-year-old Keefer Goodman will serve four years of supervised release following his prison sentence.
The sentencing is tied to a two-vehicle crash that happened the morning of July 21, 2020. When police arrived at the scene, they found Goodman had overdosed and crashed his vehicle. Police also found a loaded handgun on the front passenger seat.
After medics revived Goodman with Narcan, he admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana prior to the crash. He also admitted to using heroin earlier that night.
Authorities said they found nearly 270 grams of methamphetamine, 7.3 grams of cocaine, 35.6 grams of marijuana, a pouch of baggies, a scale and two switchblade knives when they searched Goodman’s vehicle. They also found $1,820 in Goodman’s pocket.
According to a news release, Goodman was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a previous felony conviction. Goodman was on extended supervision at the time of the accident.
The charge against Goodman was the result of an investigation conducted by the Madison Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
