KENDALL, Wis. — A Monroe County Highway worker was hospitalized Monday morning following a two-vehicle crash, prompting law enforcement officials to remind drivers to be attentive while driving, especially in work zones.
According to officials with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a Monroe County Highway truck was hit from behind Monday morning by a semi traveling eastbound on Highway 71. The truck was the last in a row of vehicles doing maintenance work on the shoulder of the road.
The driver of the highway truck was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. The semi driver was uninjured, officials said.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash. Crews with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County Emergency Management, Kendall Fire Department, Wilton Ambulance and Tomah Ambulance helped with the response.
