MIDDLETON, Wis. — A Madison man was arrested on multiple charges Tuesday following a crash in Middleton.
A news release said police pulled over a white Pontiac in Cross Plains at about 11:15 a.m., but the vehicle drove off.
A few minutes later, Middleton officers saw a car heading eastbound on University Avenue that matched the description of the Pontiac. Police did not attempt to stop the car, which accelerated through a red light at the intersection of University Avenue and Parmenter Street.
Officials said the car caused a three-vehicle crash. Multiple people suffered minor injuries and significant property damage was sustained as a result, according to the release. The driver ran away but was arrested near the scene.
Roland Scott, 19, was taken to a hospital and eventually booked into the Dane County Jail on charges of resisting an officer, possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver and a body only warrant through Jefferson County.
Scott was issued citations for a number of traffic offenses. The release said Cross Plains police will also refer charges regarding the traffic stop.
The Middleton Fire District, Madison Fire Department and Cross Plains EMS assisted Middleton police during the incident.
