MADISON, Wis. — More than 36,000 Wisconsinites have been newly vaccinated against COVID-19 in the past day, according to the state Department of Health Services.
As of Wednesday, a total of 4,302,648 vaccine doses have been administered throughout the state.
Health officials said 2,473,608 people have gotten at least one dose of vaccine, which is 42.5% of the state’s population. Public health officials in Dane County said 99% of residents have returned for their second dose and within the proper timeframe.
According to DHS data, 1,889,058 residents have completed the vaccine series, or 32.4% of Wisconsin. Of those who have been fully vaccinated in the state, only 0.03% tested positive for COVID.

Health officials reported 688 new cases of the virus, down from Tuesday’s 815. The most recent case count is slightly above the seven-day rolling average of 612.
Wisconsin has reached an all-time total of 596,552 confirmed cases, with 8,852 of those cases still active. The seven-day average percent positive by test has remained the same at about 3.2%.
The number of new COVID-related deaths doubled compared to the previous day, with 34 more deaths recorded. The statewide death toll is now at 6,807. An additional 79 people have also been hospitalized within the past day.
