BELOIT, Wis. — The Rock County Public Health Department has announced a partnership with Walgreens to provide two community clinics for the COVID-19 vaccine.
The clinics are open to people 18 and older and will offer free doses of the Moderna vaccine. A follow-up clinic will be held four weeks later to administer the second dose.
The county hopes the clinics will make the vaccine more accessible to underrepresented groups.
“We have focused our outreach on the African American and Latino populations as well as the vulnerable populations,” said Rock County Community Health Education Coordinator Alison Chouinard. “We want to ensure equity and everyone who is eligible for the vaccine is welcome.”
One of the clinics will take place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Beloit Head Start preschool on 1221 Henry Ave in Beloit. The second dose clinic will be open May 30.
The other community clinic will be held May 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rock County Job Center on 1900 Center Ave. in Janesville. The second dose clinic will open June 5.
Officials said identification and insurance will be helpful but are not required. Appointments are preferred, though walk-ins will be an option depending on the amount of vaccine supply left.
