MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department is investigating a series of thefts and multiple instances of suspicious activity on campus over the last week.
According to a news release, UWPD officers have spoken with several victims and identified a suspect through witness descriptions and security cameras in the campus area.
The release said police were able to arrest the suspect Thursday after they entered a secured campus building by following behind another person and using their credentials to gain access.
Police said the suspect is being held in the Dane County Jail on the warrant and charges from UPWD related to on-campus incidents will be referred as their investigation continues.
Police said people should recognize nothing is fail safe on campus and belongings should be as secure as possible. If you witness a crime in progress, you should also call 9-1-1 immediately.
