Another Phone Scam in Dubuque

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a phone scam in the area. The scammer is spoofing the phone number (563) 589-4406, which is the Sheriff’s Office administrative line. You should not provide any personal information to the caller. If the caller requests payment for an unpaid parking ticket or any other matter, be aware that the  Sheriff’s Office does not accept gift cards or iTunes cards as forms of payment and does not have accounts for Western Union, PayPal, Venmo, or Bitcoin. Simply hang up and report the call to authorities.
