NEW GLARUS, Wis. — Businesses in Greene County are responding to new COVID-19 guidance while making sure both customers and employees feel safe.
According to Steve Longo, owner of Tofflers Pub and Grill, the transition out of CDC precautions has not been easy.
“Everyday, people want to argue with you. That has definitely lightened up in recent months,” said Longo. “There are people who take it beyond arguments, the police have been here more than once.”
As mask mandates and social gathering limits are lifted, costumers say they are excited to reunite but concerned about who is, and who isn’t, vaccinated.
Today was the first time in over a year that customers Wendy Shapiro and Judy Lehnherr were able to see each other.
“It was just so nice being out among people and friends and knowing it was a safe place,” said Shapiro.
Tofflers Pub and Grill no longer requires guests to wear their masks indoors.
“Employees will still wear masks. If you want to come in and wear one, great” said Longo. “But if you don’t, with all the reasons why you don’t need to anymore, we think those are reasons to stay safe.”
Starting June 2nd, Dane County will lift all public health orders.
