MADISON, Wis. — The Mallards will get their chance to play in front of a full crowd this summer.
According to a news release, Public Health Madison & Dane County said that team will be playing for a limited crowd beginning May 31 and June 1. Fans will not be required to wear masks while seated, but mask-wearing will be enforced in common areas of the stadium.
Full capacity seating will be offered in most of the stands starting Friday, June 4, and Mallards officials said they will gather input from fans to determine if socially distanced seating should remain available past that date.
Vaccinated seating sections will be phased out following the June 2 game as the stadium staff works towards reaching full capacity.
The news comes following Public Health Dane County Madison’s announcement of the June 2 expiration of COVID-19 guidelines.
“The removal of these guidelines means that PHMDC is saying it is safe for people to return to gathering like they did in 2019,” said Mallards President Vern Stenman in a news release. “It seems ages ago that our community got together in person, and we are proud to be amongst the first places that our community can come together safely as we work collectively to emerge from the immense shadow of this pandemic,”
