Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is extending the state’s safer-at-home order through May 2th6 or until a superseding order is issued. It adds some new measures to support progress made in containing coronavirus and allows some activities to start up again. Evers said, “a few weeks ago, we had a pretty grim outlook for what COVID-19 could mean for our state, but because of the efforts of all of you, Safer at Home is working.” Wisconsin’s K-through-12 schools will remain closed through the end of the year under the extended order. Some changes include opening golf courses under certain restrictions, allowing lawncare and construction work, and curbside pickup at public libraries and for some non-essential businesses. Some Republicans are criticizing the extended order, claiming it is “killing the economy, destroying people’s lives, and devastating both small and large businesses.”
