MADISON, Wis. — The Department of Workforce Development is connecting people getting their COVID-19 vaccine with job opportunities.
The DWD’s Mobile Career Lab is setting up shop at vaccination sites across the state, beginning with the Alliant Energy Center. Career specialists will work with the general public as well as temporary employees who have been helping distribute vaccines.
They can provide information about who’s hiring, help with resume writing, and other guidance.
“We know the job market looks a little bit different post-COVID than it did before with new skills required with openings that are currently active in the state, so we’re really hoping to connect our job seekers with training opportunities, career pathways and other resources that we can provide to help them obtain gainful employment, ” DWD Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek said.
The mobile career lab will be stationed at the Alliant Energy Center on Wednesdays every week through June. Other career lab vehicles will also be out in Milwaukee and northern Wisconsin.
