The man accused of beating and stabbing his mother and dog to death at their Iowa County home says he was “hearing evil voices” and “blacked out” before the murder. Sean Pickett is being charged with a count of first degree intentional homicide in the death of his mother, Susan Pickett, and a count of mistreatment of animals in the death of his dog. Pickett originally called police May 10th saying his mom and dog were dead. When Avoca Police arrived at the home, they say Pickett had dried blood on his pants, shoes and the front of his shirt. Pickett was put into protective custody and additional agencies were called to assist. In an interview with agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Pickett told investigators he was “possessed” by evil voices. He is being held on a $100,000 bond and made an appearance in Iowa County court Monday afternoon. He faces a mandatory life sentence if convicted.
