MADISON, Wis. — Madison police have responded to two purchases-turned-robbery in the past few weeks and are reminding people to use caution when meeting up to complete an online market place sale or purchase.
Authorities said anytime someone tries to buy or sell something via an online market place, they should always meet in a well-lit, well-traveled public area. Police said Madison Police District parking lots can be used for private transactions.
Police also said anyone who sells a private vehicle should report the sale to the DMV to help protect owners from liability and help police if the vehicle is later used in a crime.
