DODGEVILLE, Wis. — The man accused of killing his mother and dog at their Iowa County home is headed to trial.
An Iowa County judge found enough evidence to continue with the case against 21-year-old Sean Pickett, who is accused of killing his mother, Susan, at her home in Avoca earlier this month.
Pickett is charged with first degree intentional homicide and mistreatment of an animal causing death. He allegedly told investigators he was “possessed by evil voices” and blacked out before killing his mother and dog, although he was able to tell investigators graphic details on how he killed both.
Police responded to the home after Pickett himself called, saying his mother and dog were dead. The chief of the Avoca Police Department said he saw blood stains on Pickett’s shirt, pants and the tops of his shoes when he arrived at the house. Susan Pickett was found dead in a pool of dried blood in a bedroom.
Pickett is scheduled to be back in court next month. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond.
