PORTAGE, Wis. — Portage police have arrested a high school teacher after district administrators alleged she had a sexual relationship with one of her male students.
Officials with the Portage Police Department arrested 35-year-old Abby M. Dibbs, of Cross Plains, on Wednesday after the Portage Community School District reached out to the police department to report their findings.
District officials said in a statement that Dibbs is no longer employed at Portage High School.
“This teacher is no longer employed by the Portage Community School District and will not be returning to the classroom,” the statement reads. “Upon learning of this matter, the District responded immediately and contacted law enforcement.”
It’s unclear when school officials first learned of the relationship between Dibbs and the student.
Authorities arrested Dibbs on charges of sexual assault of a child by a school staff person. She was taken to the Columbia County Jail and is expected to appear in court as early as Friday.
